Take the Challenge and be a Winner!

Texas Youth Storytelling Challenge

WHY?
Texas Youth Storytelling Challenge, TYSC for short, has been organized to encourage young storytellers from the age of 6 to 16. Anyone can participate. It's a time to come and tell your story to a panel of judges/coaches and get positive feedback on what you are doing well and how you might improve.

SO WHAT?
Regional Challengers will be sent in from all over Texas. From all those state entries, five student videos will be chosen and entered into the competition at the National level. www.nationalyouthstorytellingshowcase.org

WHAT TO EXPECT?
You will be grouped with other students according to your grade level. Judges/coaches will listen to your story in a private room, so you'll have no distractions. There will be another area with snacks and a place to practice your story with other waiting participants, family and adult storytelling volunteers.

WHEN and WHERE?
TSYC is held traditionally in the spring in North Texas and San Antonio. National Youth Storytelling Showcase has just changed their performance from February to June 4-6th; thus changing deadlines for TSYC. As soon as we have news of when the deadline is, we'll post times and dates for North Texas and San Antonio. If you would like to be notified, please contact shelby@tipitellers.org.

We are looking for volunteers who want to offer this TSYC opportunity in other areas of Texas. Please contact the above address if you would like more information.

WHAT ELSE?

  • Great snacks
  • Opportunities to talk to professional storytellers
  • A chance to listen to other storytellers
