2008 TEXAS STORYTELLING FESTIVAL

You are invited to be a part of the 2008 Texas Storytelling Festival to be held April 10-13th in Denton Texas. Our Student Field Trip Day is April 11 and Fall Registration is now open for this exciting educational and entertaining event. Look at our exciting changes for 2008:

• Our Festival, including Student Field Trip Day, will be held indoors this year on the campus of
Texas Woman’s University. (No worries about weather!)

• The new schedule will include two fifty minute storytelling concerts for our students for the low price of only $6 per
student. This schedule will eliminate the need for a lunch break which we had in the past.
(See the schedule listed below.)

• Our featured headliners at the 2008 Texas Storytelling Festival include National Tellers Carmen Deedy,
Doug Lipman & Tim Tingle, along with our Regional Tellers Doc Moore, Donna Lively and James Ford.
Our three National Tellers this year are all published authors, and two of the tellers have books which have appeared
on the TX Bluebonnet Award List. Tim Tingle’s new book Crossing Bok Chitto: A Choctaw Tale of Friendship and
Freedom appears on the just released 2008-2009 TX Bluebonnet List. Carmen Deedy’s The Yellow Star: The Legend
of King Christian X of Denmark was on the 2002-2003 TX Bluebonnet Award List. Her delightful new book is titled
Martina the Beautiful Cockroach: A Cuban Folktale. Doug Lipman is a prolific author of books on storytelling, including
The Story Factor and Improving your Storytelling.

Come listen as these nationally known storytellers join with many other fantastic tellers to tickle your funny bone and introduce you to their cultural heritages and life experiences.
