The National Tellers for the 2008 Texas Storytelling Festival are Tim Tingle, Doug Lipman and Carmen Deedy. Regional tellers are James Ford, Doc Moore and Donna Lively. GHOST TALES: Start with something shivery. Thursday night means Ghost Stories. Tales begin at 7:00pm with frights appropriate for the younger set, and get progressively more hair-raising as the evening goes on. Stay as long as you dare! Come hear haunting legends and eerie tales of the unexplained and unexplainable. This concert is FREE!
TALESPINNER DINNER AND SILENT AUCTION: April 12th 5-7pm Join the featured tellers and all your friends for dinner before the evening concert. Relax with beer and wine and lots of great food, plus a chance to place bids on an exciting array of goods and services at our Silent Auction. All monies raised will go to support activities of the festival. Cost $20.00
LONE STAR LIARS COMPETITION: Don't miss out on the second annual competition! Be it fact or fiction, we want to be fooled! Come see if you can be the biggest liar at this year's festival and compete for a $250.00 prize and bragging rights!!!! Application can be found at www.tejasstorytelling.com. Entry Fee: $20.00

WORKSHOPS: Whether you are a teacher, librarian, parent or full-time storyteller, we've got workshops sure to meet your needs. Attend workshops such as ”Don’t Be Terrified of the TEKS!: Storytelling and Our State Standards”, “Humor: You’re Not as Funny as You Think You Are” or even “Teaching Kids To Be Tellers” NEW THIS YEAR!!! We now have workshops for youth! Check it out! Don’t miss all that this year’s festival has to offer.
MASTER CLASSES: Want to polish your story skills further? You can each year with one of our Master Classes! This two 1/2 hour class gives you and abundance of resources to help develop and learn more about your craft. You'll have fun and learn more than you imagined. Click here for more details.

TRADITIONAL NATIVE AMERICAN STORYTELLING AND STORY CIRCLES: A unique and very special feature of our festival occurs on Saturday morning with 2 hours of traditional Native American stories which remind us of the sacredness of all life. Produced by Tim Tingle.
IN-SERVICE HOURS/ STAFF DEVELOPMENT CREDIT: Earn in-service or staff development credit from our workshops and have fun in the process. Festival staff at our registration tent will facilitate this process. Forms will be provided and checked at the workshops. |
