Jiaan ("Jan") brings her love, expertise, and passion to the world of storytelling. Delighting audiences of all ages, she tells multi-cultural folktales, literary tales, ghost stories, and snippets from down home.
Jiaan draws upon her twenty years of teaching elementary classes and two years of teaching storytelling to design programs for thematic units, holidays, and special occasions appropriate to age and audience. As a member of the education team for The Dallas Opera, Jiaan also uses her expertise in curriculum design to inform her storytelling for supporting reading and writing connections with the TEKS.

Currently Jiaan provides the following interactive and process-oriented workshops: "Storytelling and Narrative Writing" for fourth graders, "On Your Feet and Telling" for beginning storytellers of any age and "Next Steps", a follow-up workshop for peer critiquing and expanding storytelling skills.
