Lady Griot.
Griot (GREE -OH) is a West African word for storyteller. Lady Griot (aka Tonya Fennell) enjoys telling tales about history and culture. Her storytelling career began in South Florida.  She presented "The Japan Show" that was underwritten by the Morikami Museum of Japanese Culture in Boca Raton, FL.  Lady Griot's original story "Petit Jacques" debuted at Le Festival de Francais sponsored by The Boca Museum of Art in Boca Raton, FL.  She has also worked with organizations such as Norton
Museum of Art and The Kravis Center of West Palm Beach, FL.

Lady Griot has "edutained" audiences in Florida, Wisconsin, and Missouri.   In the Dallas Fort Worth area, Lady Griot works with with Dallas Heritage Village, and The National Multicultural Western Heritage Museum and Hall of Fame. She performs for day cares, schools, churches, libraries, festivals, and museums.

Lady Griot uses music dance and prose to engage audiences preschool to adult.  Her latest venture is the "Cowgirls of Color" show.  Featuring real African-American women who helped win the old West, the Cowgirls of Color show is an interactive trip to the frontier.
